Notably, this marked Taylor Swift’s second consecutive win in the Video of the Year category, with her previous victory being for the 10-minute version of her breakup anthem, “All Too Well.” With her impressive haul of nine awards that evening, Swift tied the record for the most VMA wins in a single night, as confirmed by MTV. Her triumphs encompassed Song, Artist, and Album of the Year, solidifying her status as one of the most decorated artists in VMA history, with a lifetime total of 23 awards, second only to Beyoncé. The show’s kickoff at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, was marked by Swift’s heartfelt moment as she received the Pop Video Award from members of the 1990s boy band NSYNC, a group that had clinched the same honor two decades prior.
